The compromise between the full-hood adult suit and a plain unitard, and the only hooded cut made for children. The hood covers the skull, hairline and ears, and an oval leaves the whole face clear — so a child can see, hear and be recognized while still reading as a single unbroken color from a distance. That is the right trade for anyone under twelve, and the reason this is the one hooded suit here we would put on a child at all.

Twelve colors rather than the usual twenty-five, chosen for characters: green, lime green, nude, blue, light blue, white, orange, red, yellow, black, grey and dark purple. Gollum, Tingle, a snake, Smurfette and a Simpson all turn up in the reviews.

What owners of this one report

  • FitBy height, three foot three to four foot eleven. Reviewers split evenly between true to size and slightly small — one parent in an X-Large called it a little smaller than expected but workable. The hood is part of the garment, so a child with a lot of hair may want the next band up.
  • ReceptionAround a thousand buyers and the same high rating as the bare-handed cut. Several parents specifically say the fabric is opaque rather than sheer, and this is the one listing where the zipper draws praise instead of complaint.
  • Worth knowingTwo practical notes from owners. Dark and saturated colors can bleed in the first wash — a blue suit left color on the white dress worn over it, so wash it twice before layering it under anything pale. The felt mask that comes with it is thin, and while it molds to the face it is not durable. Parents routinely cut the fingertips off so a child can manage a school day; the fabric does not run when cut, but the change is permanent and the suit cannot go back after that.

In their own words

  • Great body suit.

Used for a Gollum Halloween costume. Fit great and true to size. Not see through at all. The zipper worked great and was a great quality. I wasn’t worried about it breaking. Perfect color for what we needed. Used make up to make it look dirty. We cut off the finger tips so she could function at school all day and sewed stringy hair into the cap. Worked perfectly for us!

  • Nice quality, good fit, colors are a pictured!

Although we didn't end up using this, right out of the package, I was impressed with the quality. The seams were nice and tight and there was plenty of stretch. The mask was a little flimsy, just felt, however would mold nicely to the face. The color was nice and bright, as pictured. Overall I would recommend this bodysuit!

  • Good Costume Base

We bought this item for my son's Halloween costume. He was Tingle (from The Legend of Zelda). We cut the hands and feet off and use that material to make a point on the head and elf ears. It worked great! It was a bit pricey for the quality of the material, but overall, it performed exactly as expected and served its purpose.

  • Body Suit Win

Fit a little smaller then size but was able to make it work. Costume quality was great, it was durable for my kiddo. It was very bright so I could see her all night. Definitely worth the money, I will use this brand again for sure.
